Fisher & Paykel DE62T27GW1 SmartLoad Dryer Service

Fisher & Paykel dryer

Most common issues on this model

  1. Slow cycles from a blocked or very long duct
  2. Exhaust sensor trouble
  3. Burned-out element leaving the drum cold
  4. Squealing from a worn belt or roller

The DE62T27GW1 is the electric SmartLoad, a 27-inch dryer loaded through a lid on top and designed to sit beside or on top of matching top-loading washers. The lint collects in a bucket instead of on a screen in a door, and an electronic control reads the exhaust temperature to decide the pace of the cycle. That makes the vent path a bigger factor than many owners expect.

A cycle that ends early points to the sensing side, while one that runs far too long almost always means the air is not leaving freely. We check the bucket seating, the duct and the exhaust sensor, then test the element and the belt. A squeal is a roller or the belt. We tell you the price in writing first, and the repair is backed by our 30-day workmanship warranty.

DE62T27GW1DE62T27GW1 questions
My dryer runs very long cycles now. Where do you start?

With the vent. A long or kinked duct holds back the exhaust and makes the sensor extend the cycle. We measure airflow, clear lint, and straighten the duct before we look at any part.

The drum turns but the clothes stay cold. What fails?

The heating element, though a tripped thermal safety gives the same result. We test the element and the safeties with a meter. If airflow is poor we correct that so the new element survives.

Why does a top-loading dryer use a lint bucket?

The lid on top leaves no front door to hold a screen, so lint falls into a bucket. If the bucket is not pushed in fully, lint slips past into the duct. We check its seating on each visit.
