On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart/EcoSmart top-load washers like the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, code 224 is a Motor Control Module peripheral error. The processor on the module could not communicate properly with one of its own supporting circuits. The washer stops the cycle and the display shows 224 until the module is checked. Water in the tub, if any, stays put until a technician drains it. Nothing you did on the panel caused this error.
1. Switch the washer off at the control. 2. Turn off its breaker for one minute and then restore power. 3. Select a short rinse with an empty tub. 4. If 224 stays, stop using the washer and call us; we handle the module.
It is a supporting circuit on the control module that the processor depends on. If the processor cannot work with it, the module reports 224.
The module cannot trust its own supporting circuits, so it halts the cycle instead of running the motor and valves blindly. That protects the motor, valves and pump from wrong commands.
Yes, once. A power cycle clears an occasional glitch, but a repeat of 224 means the module has a real problem. If it comes back, the module needs a proper board test.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
