On the Fisher & Paykel OB24SDPX1 built-in 24-inch oven, E001 means the oven cavity temperature probe is in short circuit. The control reads the probe's signal as shorted, so it cannot measure how hot the cavity is. The display shows E001, and the oven will not heat normally because it has no valid temperature reading. The oven stays cold until the probe reading is valid again, which can interrupt a meal.
1. Turn the oven off and let it cool. 2. Switch it off at the breaker for a minute, then back on. 3. Try a short bake to see if E001 returns. 4. Do not poke at the probe inside the cavity or pull on its wire. 5. If the code persists, leave the oven off and call us to test the probe.
The probe is a sensor whose resistance tells the control the temperature. A short circuit gives a reading far outside the normal range, so the oven flags E001 and stops heating.
Normally not. Without a valid temperature reading, the control will not run the heating elements, so a bake or broil will not proceed. Both modes need the cavity sensor to report correctly.
The part itself is simple, but access and testing are needed to be sure it is the cause. We check first, then explain the cost in writing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
