What F2 13 means

On current Fisher & Paykel OB24 and OB30 Series 7 and 9 built-in ovens such as the OB30SDPTX1 and OB30SDPTDX2, F2 13 is a power board report that the cavity temperature sensor is open or shorted. The oven cannot read how hot the cavity is. The display shows the code, and heating stops because a valid temperature reading is missing.

Common causes of F2 13

  • A cavity temperature sensor that has failed open or shorted
  • A damaged sensor lead or connector
  • A power board input that misreads the sensor
  • Wiring between the sensor and power board that has failed
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven off and let it cool. 2. Switch it off at the breaker for one minute and back on. 3. Try a short bake to see if the code returns. 4. Do not touch the sensor inside the oven or pull on its wire. 5. If F2 13 comes back, leave the oven off and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Without a temperature reading the oven cannot be allowed to heat.
  • Telling a bad sensor from bad wiring or a bad board takes a meter.
  • We test the whole chain so the right part is replaced.
  • Quotes are written first, and our work has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F2 13F2 13 questions
What does open or shorted mean?

The sensor changes resistance with temperature. If its circuit is broken (open) or bridged (shorted), the power board sees an impossible value and shuts heating off.

Is the sensor expensive?

The sensor itself is usually a modest part. The visit to test the sensor, wiring and board is what ensures the right replacement, and we quote everything in writing.

Can I bake at a lower setting?

No. The oven will not heat at any setting without a valid cavity reading, so the code has to be resolved before cooking. Please do not try other modes either.
