What DOOR means

On the Fisher & Paykel OB24SDPX1 built-in 24-inch oven, the display message "DOOR" means the door is not closed, or the control cannot verify a closed position through the door lock microswitch while you are choosing a self clean mode. The oven will not start the self clean selection until it sees the door as closed and locked. Nothing else about the oven is described by this message.

Common causes of DOOR

  • A door that is not fully shut
  • Something resting on the door or in the seal
  • A door lock microswitch that does not register closure
  • A door lock mechanism that is out of position
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Open the door fully, then close it firmly and check that nothing blocks the frame or seal. 2. Wipe away any grease or debris around the latch area when the oven is cool. 3. Choose the self clean mode again. 4. If "DOOR" still appears with the door closed, switch the oven off at the breaker for a minute and retry. 5. If it remains, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The microswitch is part of the door lock assembly and sits behind the oven's front frame.
  • Self clean needs a verified lock, so it is not wise to override it.
  • We test the switch and lock before replacing anything.
  • You receive a written price first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the work.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

DOORDOOR questions
The door looks closed. Why does it say DOOR?

The control relies on a microswitch in the door lock, not on what you can see. If that switch does not register closure, the message appears even with the door shut.

Does this stop normal baking?

The message appears while selecting a self clean mode, so ordinary baking is usually unaffected. A switch that has gone bad can still cause other door-related trouble over time.

Can I clean the switch myself?

Wiping the visible latch area when cool is fine. The switch itself is inside the lock assembly, and we recommend leaving that to a technician.
