On Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad and AeroSmart dryers such as the DEGX1, DGGX1, DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, Code 12 is a failure of the lid lock switching device, the part that switches the door lock on and off. The control cannot operate the lock as it should, so it stops the cycle. Owners see Code 12 and the dryer will not start or ends the cycle early.
1. Open the door and close it again until it latches fully. 2. Make sure nothing is stuck in the door opening. 3. Unplug the dryer for one minute and plug it back in. 4. Run a short cycle. If Code 12 returns, call us.
Code 11 is an open circuit on the lid lock. Code 12 is the switching device failing, which is the part that turns the lock on and off. They need different tests.
No. The dryer must know the door is secured before it turns the drum. Bypassing the lock is a safety risk and we will not do it.
We test the switching device and the control around it, then tell you what to replace. You get a written price before any work, and our workmanship warranty lasts 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
