On Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive top-load washers, code 6 means the control received an incorrect signal from the pressure sensor. On Phase 1 the Display Module reports it; on Phase 2 to 4 the Motor Control Module does. It is not used on Phase 5, Phase 6 or AquaSmart and EcoSmart washers. The owner sees 6 and the washer may misjudge its water level.
1. Unplug the washer. 2. Check that the load is not blocking the tub area. 3. Plug in and run a short cycle with a small load. 4. If 6 returns, stop and call us.
Phase 1 to 4 SmartDrive washers. Newer SmartDrive and EcoSmart washers use other pressure sensor codes.
The washer may misjudge the level, so watch the first fill.
A restart may clear it once. If it returns the sensor circuit needs a check.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
