On Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive top-load washers in Phases 1 to 4, code 2 means an error was encountered when trying to read the pressure sensor. In Phase 1 the display module reports it; in Phases 2 to 4 the motor control module does. Without a good pressure reading the washer cannot judge its water level, so the cycle stops with the number showing. It does not apply to Phases 5 and 6.
1. Turn the washer off and run a full drain if water is in the bowl. 2. Unplug it for a minute and plug back in. 3. Start a short cycle and watch whether it fills to a sensible level. 4. If code 2 returns, stop using the washer and book service. The sensor and its tube are behind panels.
Phases 1 to 4 of SmartDrive. The module that raises it differs: the display module in Phase 1, the motor control module in Phases 2 to 4.
It means the control could not read the pressure sensor that measures the level. The washer stops rather than guess how full the bowl is.
We test the sensor, tube, and module, quote the price in writing before work, and cover repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
