On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart and EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, and SmartDrive Phase 6 models like the GWL11, code 240 is a Hall error: the Hall sensor is out of order. It is the same as the earlier Hall error codes, with an extra code for Phase 6. It can also appear if an incorrect rotor for the machine has been fitted. The motor will not run reliably.
1. Unload the washer, power off, and unplug it for a minute. 2. Plug in and try one short empty spin. 3. With the power off, check that the drum turns freely by hand. 4. If code 240 returns, stop using the washer and call us. The Hall sensor and rotor are under the tub.
It senses the position of the motor rotor so the control can time power to the motor. Code 240 says that sensor is not working correctly.
If a rotor not made for this machine was fitted, the Hall signals will not match what the control expects, which also gives code 240.
