On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart and EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, and on SmartDrive models like the GWL11, code 241 means the display function timed out and the display crashed. The control stopped answering its own program checks, so the screen can freeze, blank out, or show the number while the cycle halts. The washer may recover after a restart, but a repeat points to the control electronics.
1. Pause the cycle and unplug the washer for five minutes. 2. Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet, not a power strip. 3. Run a short rinse-and-spin with no clothes and watch whether 241 returns. 4. If it returns on the same cycle each time, stop using the washer and note which cycle it was.
One isolated 241 after a storm or outage is often a lockup that clears with a restart. If it returns within a few cycles, the display is crashing on its own and a technician should look at the control.
A crash and restart normally returns the washer to its default cycle choices, which is only a nuisance. What matters is whether the crash repeats, because each one can interrupt a load mid-cycle with water still in the tub.
You can try small loads while you wait, but watch the first minutes of each cycle. If the display freezes again, stop and drain the tub, because a crash in the middle of a fill is not something to leave running unattended.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
