Code 29 on Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad and AeroSmart dryers, among them the DEGX1, DGGX1, DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, is a brown-out data retrieval error. It appears when the control loses or cannot read its stored data after the supply voltage dipped. You will see the code on the display, and the dryer may stop or refuse to restart. It can appear right after a flicker in the lights.
1. Switch off the dryer's breaker and wait about a minute. 2. Check that the plug sits fully in the outlet and feels cool. 3. Turn the breaker back on and run a short cycle. 4. Notice whether lights flicker or other appliances struggle at the same time. 5. If Code 29 repeats, leave the dryer off and call us.
It is a dip in supply voltage that does not fully cut power. Lights may dim for a moment. The dryer's control can lose its data in that dip, and Code 29 reports the problem.
A single event can be a passing dip on the utility line. If the code does not return after a reset, you can keep using the dryer, though we would watch it.
A plug-in strip is not suitable for a dryer's heavy current. If dips are frequent, we can check the circuit and outlet and tell you what is practical.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
