What Code 30 means

On Fisher & Paykel AeroSmart dryers such as the DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, Code 30 is a user warning that the lid lock failed to lock. The dryer tried to secure the lid and could not, so it will not run a normal cycle. The display shows the code, and the owner sees the dryer refuse to start with the lid apparently closed.

Common causes of Code 30

  • A lid that is not fully closed or is held open by clothing
  • Lint or debris at the lid and latch area
  • A lid lock mechanism that is not engaging
  • A door actuator that is not completing its move
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Open the lid and pull out anything hanging over the edge. 2. Wipe lint and dust from the lid rim, the seal and the catch area. 3. Close the lid firmly and listen for the lock. 4. Press Start again. 5. If you switch off the breaker for a minute and the warning returns, stop and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A lock that will not engage may involve the actuator or switch inside the door assembly.
  • Pushing the lid with force can bend latch parts.
  • We diagnose before replacing so you only pay for what is needed.
  • The price is written first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty applies.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Code 30Code 30 questions
Is this a real failure or just a warning?

It is called a user warning, so the first thing to check is whether the lid is truly closed and clear. If everything is clean and closed and it still appears, the lock needs service.

Why does the dryer need a lid lock?

The lock keeps the lid secured while the drum spins and heats. The dryer will not run a cycle if it cannot confirm the lid is locked.

Can I bypass the lock to finish a load?

No. The lock is a safety feature and we would never recommend defeating it. Take the damp clothes out and hang them while the dryer waits for repair.
