On Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad and AeroSmart dryers such as the DEGX1, DGGX1, DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, Code 7 means the motor current is excessive. The drive motor is pulling more than it should, which can come from a jam or overload, the motor control module or the motor itself. The display shows the code and the dryer stops to protect itself.
1. Switch off the dryer's breaker and let it rest for about ten minutes. 2. Remove the load and check that the drum is not stuck on a sock or item. 3. Turn the drum by hand and note whether it moves freely. 4. Restore power and run a small load. If Code 7 returns, stop using the dryer and call us.
Yes. A very heavy or tangled load makes the motor draw more current. Dry a lighter load and see if the code clears; if so, the dryer was protecting itself.
Code 3 says the drum is stalled and cannot move. Code 7 says the motor is pulling too much current, which may happen before or without a full stall.
The dryer shuts down to prevent damage, which is what it should do. We still advise against restarting it again and again until the cause is found.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
