On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart/EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, code 74 is a pressure transducer error: the transducer frequency is out of range. The water-level sensor sends a signal the control cannot accept, and the remedy is to replace the Motor Control Module. The washer stops and shows 74. The signal comes from the sensor but is read by the control.
1. Let the tub drain and remove the clothes. 2. Turn the washer off and switch off its breaker for one minute. 3. Restore power and run a short rinse. 4. If 74 appears again, stop using the washer and call us for a Motor Control Module check.
The water-level sensor reports level as a signal frequency. If that frequency falls outside the accepted range, the control shows 74. That signal must stay inside a narrow band to be accepted.
Code 73 means the wrong sensor type is fitted. Code 74 means the signal from the sensor is outside the accepted range. Both are water-level sensor codes on this platform.
The usual remedy is a new Motor Control Module. We test first and give the price before replacing anything. We test the sensor and module together before ordering.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
