On Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 4 top-load washers, code 61 means a brown-out happened during a Motor Control Module EEPROM write. Power dipped while the control was saving data to its memory, so the saved information may be incomplete. The washer shows 61 and may not run until the control is checked. The saved data may need to be rewritten.
1. Turn the washer off. 2. Switch off the breaker for one minute and restore power. 3. Make sure the washer is plugged directly into a working outlet, not a worn extension cord. 4. Start a short rinse. 5. If 61 returns, call us.
It is a short drop in supply voltage without a full outage. If it happens while the control saves data, code 61 can result. The dip is brief and may not even flicker your lights.
Possibly, if lights dim when the washer starts. Our visit includes checking the washer's own control as well. Tell us when you call if lights dim at washer start.
If the dip was a one-time event, a reset can clear it. A repeat of 61 means the control data or module needs attention. A repeat means the module's stored data needs attention.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
