Code 59 on Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 4 to 5 top-load washers means the ID is out of range. When the washer starts, the display module checks its physical ID and finds a value outside the allowed range. The washer cannot confirm what it is, so it stops at start-up and shows 59. It shows on start-up, before any cycle begins.
1. Turn the washer off and unplug it, or switch off its breaker, for one minute. 2. Restore power and press the power button. 3. Do not load clothes until the display starts normally. 4. If 59 appears on start-up again, call us with the model number.
At start-up, when the display checks its physical ID. If the value is outside the allowed range, the washer reports 59 right away. The ID is checked each time the washer is powered on.
It is in the same family of display-matching checks, but 59 is about the display's ID value rather than the size switch setting. Code 59 checks the display ID, whereas code 9 checks the size switch.
A reset can clear a start-up glitch. If 59 returns each time, the display module or its connection needs a technician. Bring the full model number to the call.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
