On early Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 1 top-load washers, code 32 is a pump circuit error. The Display Module has detected that the pump is on when it is meant to be off. The owner sees 32 appear, and the washer may keep pumping water out or fail to hold water in the tub.
1. Unplug the washer at once if you hear the pump running when the cycle is not draining. 2. Wait several minutes, then plug in and see whether the pump starts by itself. 3. Check the drain hose for kinks. 4. If the pump starts again alone, leave the washer unplugged and call us.
A pump that does not switch off can empty the tub in the middle of a wash or run without water. That wears it quickly, so it is better not to let it run.
Code 32 in this meaning belongs to the early SmartDrive Phase 1 design. If your washer is newer, the code you see may relate to another family.
Unplugging the washer stops it. Do that instead of trying to adjust anything inside the cabinet.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
