On Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive top-load washers in Phases 1 to 6, such as the GWL11 and GWL15, code 130 means the motor control module found an error in the pattern received from the rotor position sensor. The pattern tells the module where the rotor is so it can drive the motor. The usual causes are a bad connection on the harness between sensor and module, or a failed rotor position sensor.
1. Unload the washer, press power off, and unplug it for a minute. 2. Plug back in and run a short spin with the drum empty. 3. Check that the drum turns freely by hand after unplugging, with the lid open. 4. If code 130 returns, stop using the washer and call us. The sensor and harness are under the tub.
It tells the motor control module where the motor's rotor is at every moment so the drive can time its power. Code 130 means the signal pattern it sent looks wrong.
Either. The common causes are a poor harness connection or a failed sensor. We test both, because the two repairs cost very different amounts.
Usually not. Without a reliable rotor signal the module will not drive the motor, so the cycle stops. We quote in writing and give a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
