On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart and EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, and SmartDrive Phase 6 models like the GWL15, code 235 reports the lid lock as a short circuit: the lid lock did not activate when the motor control module instructed it to. The lid is therefore not reported as locked, and the washer will not spin. The number shows on the display.
1. Close the lid fully and confirm it sits flat with nothing under the edge. 2. Turn the washer off and unplug it for a minute. 3. Plug in and start a short cycle. 4. If code 235 returns, stop and call. Never defeat the lock; it prevents the lid opening on a spinning drum.
Code 234 reads the lid lock circuit as open. Code 235 reads it as shorted, and the lock did not activate when told to.
