Code 58 on Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 4 to 5 top-load washers means the pressure transducer is at its maximum adjustment. The washer keeps correcting the water-level sensor reading to stay accurate, and this code appears when that correction has reached the end of its allowed range. The display shows 58. It is a warning that the sensor is near the end of its range.
1. Empty the washer and let it drain fully. 2. Switch off the breaker for one minute, then restore power. 3. Run a short rinse with no laundry. 4. If 58 appears again, stop using the washer and call us for a sensor check.
The washer fine-tunes its water-level sensor reading over time. Code 58 appears when it can adjust no further. That is the end of its correction range.
Water levels may be less accurate, so loads can be filled too little or too much. That is why we advise a check. A wrongly measured fill can also waste water.
It is a related idea of sensor drift, but code 58 is for SmartDrive Phase 4 to 5, while 72 is on AquaSmart/EcoSmart washers. Both codes concern the water-level sensor on different washer platforms.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
