On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart and EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, and on SmartDrive Phase 2 to 6 washers like the GWL15, code 48 means the Motor Controller Module has measured voltages from the valve diagnostic circuit that show both the hot and cold valves as failed. The most likely cause is wiring that is not connected correctly or a valve that is open circuit. The washer stops filling.
1. Unplug the washer. 2. Check that both faucets are open and the hoses are not kinked. 3. Plug in and start a short cycle, watching whether any water enters. 4. If 48 returns, stop and call us.
When both read wrong, the shared harness or the control is more likely than two valve coils failing at the same time.
49 means only the cold valve reads wrong; 50 means only the hot valve does. 48 is both.
If both fail, no water enters, so there is nothing to run until it is fixed.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
