On Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart and EcoSmart top-load washers such as the WA37T26EW and WA42T26GW, and on SmartDrive top-loaders including the GWL11 and GWL15, code 10 points to the temperature sensor, a thermistor. The control reads it as an open circuit, or the room around the washer is colder than about 14 degrees F (minus 10 degrees C). The wash may stall or refuse to heat, and the number appears on the display.
1. If the washer is in a garage or unheated room, warm the space to normal room temperature and wait an hour. 2. Turn the washer off, wait a minute, and start a short cycle. 3. Make sure the inlet hoses are on and the taps are open. 4. If the code shows at normal room temperature, stop using the washer and call us. The sensor and its wiring are inside the cabinet.
Code 10 is also reported when the surrounding temperature drops below about 14 degrees F. Warm the room and let the washer settle before deciding the sensor has failed.
It can be. The control sees an open circuit, which happens when the thermistor or its connector has failed. If warming the room does not clear it, a technician checks the sensor reading.
Cycles that depend on water temperature may not run correctly, so we suggest stopping. A visit gets the sensor tested and priced in writing before work starts.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
