On original E-series ActiveSmart refrigerators like the E522BLXU, Code 10 means the PC (fresh food) sensor resistance is below the normal range, under 660 ohms. That reading points to a short in the sensor or its wiring. The control loses a dependable fresh food temperature. Ice & Water models display it on the LCD with a spanner. Items may freeze unexpectedly as a result.
1. Unplug the refrigerator, wait five minutes, then restart. 2. Move items away from the rear wall vents. 3. Check for drips or condensation near the sensor area without touching wiring. 4. If Code 10 returns, call us. Avoid repeated restarts of the unit.
Both involve the fresh food sensor. Code 9 reads above 45K ohms, an open circuit. Code 10 reads under 660 ohms, a short. The sensor is built into the compartment wall.
The freezer has its own sensor, so it may keep cooling normally. The fresh food side is where you may notice changes. The freezer is a separate circuit with its own sensor.
We test the sensor and its connection, replace what is bad, and tell you the price in writing before starting. Parts are ordered only after you have approved the price.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
