What F32 means

On Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart Ice & Water refrigerators such as the E522BRXFDU and E522BLXU, F32 means water dispenser solenoid driver 1 has failed. The refrigerator switches to driver 2, so water still dispenses. The code appears to make you aware of it, because the display module also watches for leaks and continual flow from the dispenser. The dispenser keeps working meanwhile.

Common causes of F32

  • Driver 1 on the display module failed
  • Solenoid resistance out of range
  • Wiring to the dispenser solenoid damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Pour a glass of water and confirm the dispenser still works. 2. Watch for dripping or continual flow from the spout. 3. If water runs on its own, close the water valve behind the refrigerator. 4. Otherwise schedule a visit. Repeat the glass test once a week.

! Why to stop there
  • Only one backup driver remains, so a second failure would stop water.
  • The display module sits in the dispenser housing.
  • We check the solenoid resistance and quote the module in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F32F32 questions
Does water still work?

Yes. The refrigerator reverts to driver 2, so dispensing continues. The code only tells you driver 1 is gone. Water still comes out of the spout. Ask us.

Why does the code appear at all?

It was added to the display module to detect leaks and continual flow, and to alert you to the failed driver. It also helps to catch leaks.

What is repaired?

We check the solenoid and replace the display module if it is fine. A written price comes first and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows. We check the solenoid first.
