Code 47 on Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 2 to 3 top-load washers is a bowl disengage error. The pressure sensor says the tub is empty, but the washer finds the bowl is still engaged instead of released. The mechanism that switches between wash and spin cannot move properly, so the cycle stops and the display shows 47. It is a drive release problem, not a leak.
1. Wait until the washer is completely still. 2. Check that the tub drained and no clothing is caught around the basket. 3. Switch off the breaker for one minute and restore power. 4. Start a short drain/spin. 5. If 47 returns, call us.
The bowl, or basket, is locked to the drive during wash and should release afterward. Code 47 says it did not, even though the tub reads as empty.
The code assumes the pressure sensor shows empty. If you see standing water, tell us when you call so we plan for it. We check for water and mechanical release at the same time.
The code is listed for Phase 2 and 3. A newer washer would more likely show a different message. On a newer washer, tell us the exact model so we plan correctly.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
