On original E-series ActiveSmart refrigerators such as the E522BRXFDU, Code 3 means the resistance of all temperature sensors is outside the normal range, reading above 45K ohms. Because every sensor reads the same way at once, the cause usually sits at a shared connection or the power module rather than at a single sensor. Cooling may run wrongly. Temperature control is unreliable until it is cleared.
1. Unplug the refrigerator for five minutes and plug it back in. 2. Keep both doors closed so the cabinet holds its temperature. 3. Note whether the code returns and tell us when it does. 4. Do not pull at wires at the back; call us if Code 3 shows again.
All of them reading high at the same moment points to a shared path: the 6-way connector at the power module or the module itself, not several separate sensors dying together.
The 6-way connector at the power module is inspected and re-terminated if needed. Only if the code stays do we move on to the module. This connector check is the usual first step before the module is ever touched.
Without trustworthy readings the control may over- or under-cool. Watch food temperatures and call us if the code stays on; our work is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
