What Code 17 means

On original E-series ActiveSmart refrigerators such as the E522BRXU, Code 17 means the FC (freezer) fan draws less current than expected. Its wiring is open, or the fan has failed. The freezer fan moves air over the evaporator, so food can warm and frost may build. The code shows on the LCD or as a beep and LED pattern. Frost may also appear on the freezer back wall.
