Code 22 on Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad and AeroSmart dryers, including the DEGX1, DGGX1, DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, tells you the door actuator is reading as an open circuit. The dryer cannot send current through the part that moves and locks the door, so it does not know the door can be secured. The display shows the code and the cycle will not run.
1. Switch the dryer off and unplug it, or turn off its breaker, for about ten minutes. 2. Check that the door closes fully and nothing is caught in it. 3. Restore power and try the cycle again. 4. If the display repeats Code 22, leave the dryer off. Do not remove any panels to look at wiring; that work belongs to a technician.
It means electricity cannot complete its path through a part. For Code 22 that part is the door actuator or its wiring, so the dryer sees nothing there and stops.
A power reset clears the display, but it does not repair a broken connection. If the actuator circuit is open, the code comes straight back on the next start.
Not usually while it sits idle, but we suggest unplugging it until it is repaired. The dryer will not run a cycle with this code anyway.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
