On early Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive Phase 1 top-load washers, code 35 is a motor controller reset error. The Display Module has sent a false signal to the Motor Controller, so the controller received a reset that it had not asked for. The owner sees 35 on the display, and the washer may stop or restart a cycle without warning.
1. Unplug the washer for five minutes. 2. Plug it in alone on its outlet and run an empty short cycle. 3. Note whether 35 appears at once or after some minutes. 4. If it repeats, stop using the washer and call us.
The display told the motor controller to start over when nothing called for it. The controller treats that as an error and the cycle can stop.
It can upset the electronics, and a surge-protected outlet may help. If 35 returns after a clean restart, the control needs to be checked.
If the washer stops with water in the tub, unplug it and drain it before leaving clothes sitting. Do not leave a wet load overnight.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
