On original E-series ActiveSmart refrigerators like the E522BLXU, Code 23 means the second fresh food sensor, PC2, reads under 660 ohms, shown as PC2 sensor hot. That points to a shorted sensor or wiring. The control gets a false high-temperature picture and may over-cool the fresh food side. The LCD or beep pattern shows the code. Fresh food may run colder than you set it.
1. Unplug the unit for five minutes and restart. 2. Check whether lettuce or drinks are freezing. 3. Keep food away from the rear vents. 4. If Code 23 returns, call us. Avoid opening the doors often. Note anything odd about shelf temperatures so we can pass on what you saw before the visit.
Code 22 means PC2 reads high, above 45K ohms, or cold. Code 23 means it reads under 660 ohms, or hot. It is one of two sensors in the fresh food area.
A falsely hot reading can make the control cool more than needed. The control reads heat that is not there, so it keeps on cooling. Checking it is quick.
Usually a single sensor. You get a written price and a 30-day workmanship warranty. The price is in writing before work begins. Ask us for details on the visit.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
