Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad Dryer Code 1: sensor and motor control not talking

What Code 1 means

On Fisher & Paykel SmartLoad and AeroSmart dryers such as the DEGX1, DGGX1, DE27CW1 and DG27CW1, Code 1 is a communications failure between the sensor module and the motor control module. The two electronic boards exchange information to run the drum and the heat, and when that link drops the dryer stops. Owners see Code 1 on screen and the cycle ends.

Common causes of Code 1

Loose or damaged wiring between the two modules
Sensor module that is not communicating
Motor control module that is not responding

1. Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker for one minute. 2. Restore power, close the door and start a short air cycle. 3. Clean the lint screen while you are there. 4. If Code 1 shows again, switch the dryer off and call us.
