On original E-series Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart refrigerators such as the E522BRXFDU and E522BLXFDU, Code 1 means the power module failed its self test at the last power-up. Ice & Water models show the number on the LCD with a spanner symbol; other units signal it with beeps or an LED pattern. Cooling and controls may be unreliable. Cooling may not start properly after the check fails.
1. Unplug the refrigerator for five minutes, then plug it back in. 2. Watch whether the display or LED pattern shows the code again. 3. Keep doors closed to hold the cold. 4. If Code 1 returns, move perishables to another cooler and call us.
A surge or outage just before startup can trip it once. If unplugging for five minutes clears it and it stays away, no repair is needed. Moving food to a cooler is the wise choice if the code stays on.
The cabinet stays cold for several hours if doors stay shut. If Code 1 returns, move food to a cooler early and call us the same day.
