Fisher & Paykel DG62T27GW1 SmartLoad Gas Dryer Service

Fisher & Paykel dryer

Most common issues on this model

  1. Flame sensor dropping out partway through a cycle
  2. Blocked vent run causing short cycles on the thermostat
  3. Exhaust temperature sensor trouble
  4. Weak igniter

The DG62T27GW1 is the gas SmartLoad, product code 96142-A, a top-loading 27-inch dryer with a lint bucket. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. The tumbling, sensing and control side is ordinary appliance work, but everything past the gas valve calls for care and the right test equipment.

Heat that stops partway through a cycle is the most common call. Short cycling on the thermostat points to a restricted vent, an igniter that glows but never opens the valve points to the valve coil, and a flame sensor that has dirtied drops the flame early. We look at the vent first, then run the ignition sequence and measure each part. A written quote comes before any work, and the repair has a 30-day warranty.

DG62T27GW1DG62T27GW1 questions
The igniter glows but the burner never lights. What is wrong?

Either the igniter is weak and never opens the valve, or the valve coil has failed. We measure the igniter current and test the coil, then replace only the part that fails the test.

The dryer loses heat halfway through a load. Why?

Short cycling comes from a blocked vent that overheats the thermostat, or from a dirty flame sensor. We clear the duct and clean or test the sensor before changing anything else.

Is the lint bucket important on a gas model?

Yes. Lint that escapes into the duct restricts airflow, and gas burners need a clear exhaust. We check how the bucket seats and look down the duct for buildup.
