Fisher & Paykel CDV3304N 30-Inch Dual Flow Gas Cooktop Repair

Fisher & Paykel cooktop

Most common issues on this model

  1. Igniter that clicks but never lights the burner
  2. Lopsided flame caused by clogged ports
  3. Dial lighting burning out, a cosmetic matter apart from the gas valve
  4. Burner that cannot hold a low simmer

The CDV3304N is a 30-inch natural gas cooktop for kitchens that cannot fit a 36-inch layout, and it is set into a counter next to a wall oven or fridge column. Four Dual Flow sealed burners share a single-sheet surface, with continuous grates that locate themselves.

Where we spend most time is the burners. Port buildup throws the flame off, damp igniters click without lighting, and a cap that sits slightly crooked after cleaning makes a burner burn poorly. The illuminated dials can lose their lights, but that is cosmetic and does not change how the gas valve works, so we treat it separately.

Cleaning and igniter work happens from above; valves are reached from the cabinet below. Smell gas, and you should leave and call the gas utility from outside. We quote in writing first and warrant our repair for 30 days.

CDV3304NCDV3304N questions
The dial light has gone out but the burner works. Is that a gas problem?

No. The dial illumination is separate from the valve and flame. We can look at the lighting on its own, and your burner stays safe to use as long as it lights and burns normally.

Why does the burner click and not light even though the gas smells normal?

Moisture or residue on the igniter is the usual reason. We clean and dry it, check the burner cap and test the spark. If nothing improves, we move on to the module and the wiring.

Does the single-sheet surface make repairs harder?

It is easier to wipe clean, but the burners are sealed into it, so we are careful with caps and seals. Most work is done from above, and valves from the cabinet below.
