Fisher & Paykel CI304DTB4, CI244DTB4 and CI365DTB4 induction cooktops list E9 in the cook zone table with the action to change the temperature sensor. That sensor watches the heat under the glass so the cooktop can protect the zone from overheating. When it is not reading properly, owners see E9 and the zone typically cuts power until the sensor is replaced.
1. Switch the zones off and let the glass cool completely. 2. Remove any pan and wipe the surface clean. 3. Reset the cooktop at its breaker, off for one minute and then on. 4. If E9 shows again, do not keep heating the zone. Call us and leave the glass in place.
It tells the cooktop how hot the glass and coil area are, so it can lower or cut power before anything overheats. E9 means the published action is to replace that sensor.
We advise against it. Without a reliable temperature reading, the cooktop cannot guard the zone properly, so it is safer to leave that zone off until the sensor is replaced.
A reset can clear the display for a moment, but if the sensor itself has failed the code returns the next time the zone heats. We test and replace it on site with a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
