On Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer DD603 and DD605 series dishwashers, U1 means the wash pump has not primed. The fill valve stayed open for more than three minutes without the pump catching its water. Possible reasons are the tap off, low supply pressure, siphoning, a spray arm or flapper issue, foaming, the motor or the controller. Owners see U1 and the cycle ends early.
1. Open the water valve fully and test the kitchen tap. 2. Make sure only dishwasher detergent is in the unit and use the recommended amount. 3. Check the spray arm spins freely. 4. Switch the unit off and on and run a short cycle. If U1 returns, call us.
The wash pump must fill with water before it can circulate it. If that does not happen within about three minutes of the fill valve opening, the controller stops and shows U1.
Yes, foaming is on the list of causes. Suds keep the pump from catching water. Use the right amount of dishwasher detergent and never hand dish soap.
If the valve is open, supply is strong, detergent is correct and U1 returns, the pump path needs testing. We quote in writing before repairs and back them with 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
