Fisher & Paykel VB24SDEB1 24-Inch Vacuum Seal Drawer Repair

Fisher & Paykel vacuum seal drawer

Most common issues on this model

  1. Weak vacuum that leaves bags loose
  2. Worn chamber gasket
  3. Seal bar that does not melt the bag edge
  4. Drawer glide stiffness
  5. Pump running longer than it used to

The VB24SDEB1 is a 24-inch Series 9 vacuum seal drawer, a narrow pull-out chamber that sits in a base cabinet or under a wall oven. Kitchens use it for sealing bags of meat, vegetables and sous-vide portions, so it runs a short cycle many times a week.

Wear shows up in the gasket around the chamber, the seal bar that closes each bag, and the pump that draws the air. When a bag will not hold vacuum, we test the gasket first, then the seal bar, then the pump. The drawer glides get a check too, since they carry a sealed chamber. We quote in writing before any repair, and our workmanship has a 30-day warranty.

VB24SDEB1VB24SDEB1 questions
Why does the VB24SDEB1 stop pulling a full vacuum?

The chamber gasket has worn or the pump is losing pressure. We test the gasket seal first because it is the simpler repair.

What does the seal bar do?

It heats a strip across the bag mouth to close it. If the strip is weak or uneven, the bar or its cover needs service.

Is the drawer hard to pull out when full?

Stiff glides or debris in the track are the cause. We clean and lubricate, or replace worn glides.
