Fisher & Paykel HD30 Telescopic Downdraft Repair

The HD30 is a 30-inch Series 7 downdraft that rises from behind the cooktop when needed and slides back down when the cooking is done. It is a popular choice for island cooktops, where there is no wall to hang a hood on, and the mechanism is the part that sets it apart from every other hood we service.
Telescopic lifts wear in the guides and drive, so we look at how smoothly it travels and whether the sides rise evenly. Grease and spilled liquid can build up in the track and slow it down. After the lift, we check the filter, the blower and the switch. For many jobs, the cabinet under the cooktop has to be cleared so we can see the unit.
We quote the price in writing before beginning, and our repairs come with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Uneven travel usually means debris or dried grease in one guide, or a worn drive part. We clean the tracks and check the drive before replacing any parts.
Do not force it. Forcing the telescopic section can bend the guides or strip the drive. Turn it off and let us look at the mechanism.
Downdrafts work differently and capture is best close to the cooktop edge. We can check the blower and duct to be sure it performs as well as the design allows.
