Fisher & Paykel HC24PCX1 Pyramid Hood Service

The HC24PCX1 has a pyramid chimney, narrowing toward the top, and a 24-inch width that fits over a compact range. Most are mounted on an exterior wall with the duct going straight out the back or up through the cabinet above, which keeps the duct short and the airflow healthy, provided the filters stay clean.
When service is needed, we start by removing the filters and checking how much grease has collected on the underside of the hood, since that tells us how it has been used. Then we test each speed, look at the light sockets, and inspect the duct for a stuck damper flap that holds the air back.
We give a written price before any work, and our repairs include a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A single working speed often points to the speed switch or a winding in the blower motor. We test the switch first because it is cheaper to replace and easy to check.
Often the lower body can be worked on with the chimney in place. For deeper blower work we may slide the cover up. We aim to avoid disturbing the wall or cabinet.
With the hood running, go outside and see whether the flap opens. If it stays shut or flaps weakly, air is not leaving the house and the damper needs cleaning or replacing.
