A cap that sits a little crooked is a leading reason for a ragged flame after cleaning. Here is how to put everything back so the burners behave.
Most flame complaints we hear after a deep clean come down to one thing: a burner cap or head that went back in slightly off. It takes a minute to avoid.
Make sure all burners are off and the rangetop is cool. Take off the grates first and set them aside, then lift each cap straight up without twisting.
A healthy flame is steady and mostly blue, with a ring of even points around the burner. If one side is taller or the flame lifts away from the head, turn the burner off and recheck the seating before trying again.
Do not run a cap through the dishwasher unless the manual for your model says it is fine, and keep water out of the igniter hole in the center. A wet igniter will click and click without lighting, which is easy to mistake for a failed part.
If the flame is still uneven once everything is dry and seated, our team can inspect the burner on a rangetop repair visit. Choose a convenient arrival window, review the written estimate, and rest easy under our 30-day warranty. We serve homes throughout the Greater Houston area.
